Program Volunteers

Volunteer Opportunities (Monday – Friday between 8:30am – 2:30pm, shifts vary):

Senior Center Volunteers: Enjoy great conversations, games, and lunch with amazing seniors in our programs that benefit from your company!  Our center runs one of the only programs for seniors with intellectual or developmental disabilities in the County.

Garden Volunteer: Help our students with their love of plants! Assist our students to water plants, prune, groom, and price plants to sell, mix soil for planting, assist in propagation and harvesting and assist in artistically arranging the garden.

Sophie’s Art Gallery: Do you love art as much as we do?  Assist our students in print-making, jewelry-making, painting, charcoal, pastels, fabric arts, loom weaving, mosaics, glass fusing, and more. Experience a plus, but not necessary. There are also volunteer opportunities to help at our monthly Art Gallery Shows.

Program Volunteer: Help/aid staff in one of our classrooms teaching our students about a variety of different topics- ASL, TouchChat, Occupational Opportunities, Cultural Exploration, and more!

Morning Glory Brunch (April): Large food and drink festival with local restaurants in San Diego that raise money for our Aquatics and Garden programs.

Fashion Show (August): Incredible show that begins with our very own student models!  This event helps us raise unrestricted money to support all programs at St Madeleine Sophie’s Center.

Swing with Santa Golf Tournament (November): Golf tournament complete with Santa arriving by helicopter! All money raised is for holiday celebrations for the students.
