Featuring Artwork by Katie Ellison, Devon Jenson, Loretta Kramer and Denise Rich

SAN DIEGO, CA – Sophie’s Kensington Gallery presents Ladies and Gentleman, featuring artwork by Sophie’s artists Katie Ellison and Devon Jenson along with guest artists, Loretta Kramer and Denise Rich with an opening reception on March 4, 2017 from 5-8 PM. The show runs March 4 – 25 at the Sophie’s Kensington Gallery located at 4186 Adams Avenue, San Diego, CA.

St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center serves over 400 adults with developmental disabilities through nationally recognized, innovative programs. Its mission is to educate and empower individuals with developmental disabilities to realize their full potential. Developmental disabilities include autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other cognitive disorders for which there are no cures.

Sophie’s Kensington Gallery provides opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities to showcase their art with community artists to elevate their art into the mainstream in an inclusive environment. Ellison has a cheery personality that is easily transferred into her painterly style. She loves to paint flowers and abstracts with brush-strokes laden with paint. Jenson has a strong abstract style that nearly always includes his favorite color, red! He is a serious and focused painter. His sister Denise Rich paints cow portraits that bring to light the personality of each cow she has met and photographed. Her studio, located in Downtown El Cajon is a homey welcoming space. Denise and Devon were featured in a brother-sister show at Sophie’s Gallery NTC. Kramer has taught printmaking for many years at the Art Academy in North Park and works with Sophie’s artists weekly. Her Chine Colle series, a printing process that uses collaged paper bonded to the print, examines and challenges notions of beauty.
