Donation Programs Annual Fund "In Our Little Corner of the World"
The Annual Fund is an ongoing program to raise funds through an annual appeal to parents and friends to help supplement the operating budget.

Aquatics Programs
Aquatic lessons are offered to our students and to the general public in a heated Junior Olympic-size pool. The aquatics staff is experienced and certified in swim instruction and life guard procedures. Our Special Olympics team the "Tritons" compete in area swim meets and at our swimming facility.

Donor Vehicle Program
Donate your used car, truck, boat, trailer, RV or motorcycle. Call 1-866-473-5522. Vehicle pick up is free and may be tax deductible. The paper work transaction is free and coordinated by the towing company.

As of January 1, 2005, donors who give cars (or trucks or boats or airplanes) to a charity will only be able to claim the "fair market value" of those items on their federal income taxes. If the claimed value of the donated vehicle exceeds $500 and the organization sells it, the deduction is limited to the amount the nonprofit receives for it. You will be notified by St. Madeleine Sophie's Center if the value exceeds $500.

Employer Matching Gift
Matching gift companies double/triple your contribution. Forms are available through your employer.

Garden Horticulture Program "Friends of the Garden"
The garden program cultivates more than strong, healthy plants - it is a vocational training ground with two green houses, a worm farm, a citrus orchard, and vegetable and flower gardens where professional horticultural managers help our gardeners develop physical and mental skills. You can donate to this program directly or through our annual fundraiser "Morning Glory Brunch".

Major Gifts
Major donations may be made in the form of cash, securities, real estate, insurance policies, trusts, annuities and other specific gifts.

SMS Auxiliary - Service with a Heart

Established in 1966 with one classroom, St. Madeleine Sophie's Center grew out of the vision of a group of dedicated individuals and the members of the Religious Society of the Sacred Heart.

The Auxiliary was formed a year later to assist in financial support by establishing formal fundraising efforts. In 1970, ground was broken for a new classroom building funded by Mr. Peter Ferrantelli, Sr. and the efforts of the Auxiliary.

The Center's vital work continues today with the ongoing support of the Auxiliary in securing funding for new buildings and equipment. If you are interested in helping the Auxiliary or would like to become a member please contact Laura Hinman 619.462.8367 or Valerie Saraf at 858.571.0842.

With your help, the Auxiliary will continue to benefit adults with developmental disabilities who attend St. Madeleine Sophie's Center.

The Auxiliary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
